ssms error/exception script generation failed, click on help for known solutions. I am getting this error while I was trying to take a backup of the database using generate script.

Solution

The solution that worked for me was to update sql server management studio to the latest version. you can update ssms to the latest version by opening-up ssms and from the tools menu select Check for Updates & installing the updates. Once I updated the sql server management studio I was able to create a backup by scripting the entire database
